Fantastic Media has worked on the branding, marketing and PR for an event at Freeston Business and Enterprise College in Normanton.
Working with project manager, Claire Young, the Apprentice 2008 finalist and entrepreneur, alongside the school itself, Fantastic hosted a brainstorming session with the students and the 80s was chosen as the theme.
The branding for the event, named Eight Oh! Lets Go! was based on ideas from the students and brought to life by Fantastic’s designers. It featured the classic 80s toy – the Rubik’s Cube - along with bright, neon colours reminiscent of the decade.
Fantastic then worked on marketing collateral based on this branding and logo, with posters, banners and a Twitter page created to increase brand awareness on and offline, strengthened by a PR campaign which featured in regional press such as the Wakefield Express and Yorkshire Evening Post.
Fantastic also filmed the event and will host a workshop with a select number of students to demonstrate how the editing process works and a professional dvd of the event will be created.
The event itself, which involved over 200 students from the school, aged between 11 and 15, included an 80s themed fashion show, drama sketches, art displays, dancing along with cake and jewellery stores. Around 1,000 tickets were sold and the Mayor of Normanton attended.
Claire Young said of the event: “The students worked really hard, they’ve learnt some great new creative and organisational skills and the turnout on the night exceeded our expectations. We raised a huge sum of money for Breast Cancer Care and want to thank everyone who worked on and attended the event in making it such a success.”
Donna Bedford, PR Director at Fantastic, added: “It was a brilliant project to be involved in; the 80s has made a comeback recently so it was the perfect theme choice. Our strategic marketing and PR created awareness for the event and resulted in a great turn out and a fantastic donation for charity.”
