Growing SugaROx’s global profile – boosting biostimulants for the future of global food production

Founded in 2021 as a spin-out from the University of Oxford and Rothamsted Research, SugaROx develops precision biostimulants that enhance crop metabolism to improve yield, sustainability, and profitability for farmers worldwide. 

SugaROx appointed us as their strategic communications partner to raise brand awareness nationally and internationally, strengthen credibility, and attract new investment. 

The Objectives.

The Brief.

As a growing science-led business, SugaROx needed to move from sporadic marketing activity to a consistent, strategic communications programme that could scale with the company. 

Their goal was two-fold: to tell the SugaROx story in a way that reflected both its Oxford and Rothamsted research pedigree and its commercial ambition; to be recognised globally as a pioneer in the development of new technologies for the crop biostimulants industry. 

We were brought in to define the strategy, messaging, and execution needed to achieve this. 

The Research.

We began with audience and channel analysis across LinkedIn, email, media, and paid platforms, identifying where and how SugaROx could most effectively reach its core stakeholders: investors, farmers, agri-tech companies, food producers, and environmental organisations. 

We also mapped high-value media opportunities across the agricultural, environmental, and food production press to position SugaROx as a scientific authority and thought leader driving innovation in sustainable farming.

The Big Idea.

Our core focus centred around repositioning SugaROx as more than a research spin-out- elevating it into a recognised global voice in precision biostimulants. We developed:

  • A new market positioning anchored in science, innovation, and real-world impact
  • A refreshed, scalable website designed to showcase ongoing R&D, product development, insights and the team driving SugaROx
  • A targeted PR and content strategy focused on thought leadership, investor relations, and online visibility.

Working closely with SugaROx’s Business Development Director, we created a continuous stream of content across LinkedIn, press, and blogs to build credibility and investor confidence.

The Activity.

We delivered an integrated communications plan combining media relations, organic digital marketing, and thought leadership. Our storytelling highlighted how SugaROx’s technology helps tackle global food production challenges through sustainable innovation. 

A new website provided a stronger foundation for visibility and authority, while media engagement opened doors to international coverage. We secured features and interviews in influential titles such as New AG International, AgFunder News, AgriBusiness Global, and Tech Funder News. 

The campaign elevated SugaROx’s profile on both national and international stages, helping the company build investor confidence and industry recognition.

The Results.

 

  • 33 pieces of coverage across UK and global agri-tech titles in three months 
  • Enhanced brand authority across key agricultural and investment audiences (e.g. achieving a heat score of 84 and a growth score of 92 on crunchbase for instance) 
  • Secured over £1 million in new funding, with £10 million funding and investment round now underway 
  • New website and content strategy supporting long-term discoverability and growth.

SugaROx is now firmly positioned as a pioneering voice in agricultural innovation, translating world-class science into sustainable solutions that support global food security and investor confidence alike.
