Fantastic Support for Yorkshire Charity in Leeds Half Marathon

April 26, 2016

Written by Fantastic Media

Seven of our intrepid staff members are keeping it Yorkshire for the Leeds Half Marathon (May 8th).

Team FM – consisting of Alisdair Straughan, Barry Holder, Paul Whitcroft, Miles Thorp, Luke Batley, Steve Lubbock and Louis Collins – are taking on the daunting task, the likes of which their usually office-bound bodies have never experienced, in an effort to raise money for the Yorkshire Childrens Trust (YCT).

The Halifax-based charity helps families of children in the UK that are diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses or disabilities. They raise money to support them by offering essential grants to pay for medical equipment, home modifications or respite breaks for the whole family.

We are supporting YCCC captain Andrew Gale throughout his Benefit Year and YCT is one of his nominated charities.

Its great to have this support from the boys at Fantastic, said Andrew Gale. The charity needs all the help it can get both financially and in terms of profile and anything I can do either directly or by association is all good.

I dont envy the guys that are doing it. Ive done a half marathon and it was pretty brutal so I really appreciate all their efforts and dedication to what is a very worthy cause. Hats off to them.

Were a small charity and the work we do is vital to hundreds of families all over the four Yorkshire regions, said YCT Founder, Simon Widdop.

We dont just help people through the tough times emotionally, we also provide practical help and respite by giving them money for things like holiday breaks. These things make a huge difference, but fundraising for such a small charity is a constant battle so we appreciate all efforts to help us help more people.

We are an agency with strong Yorkshire roots and its important to support local charities, said Fantastics Communications Director, Alisdair Straughan. We did look at some of the other better known national charities, which are all worthy of support, but after talking to Andrew (Gale) and hearing about the great work that Yorkshire Childrens Trust do, we knew we had to keep it Yorkshire.
